EU-China Business & Technology Cooperation Fair 2017

"A few minutes may be all it takes."

Aim of the event

As an important platform for building ever closer relationship between 27 EU member states and China, the 12th EU-China Business and Technology Cooperation Fair, will take place in Chengdu and Qingdao, two vital strategic cities of west and north China. The UCIP project participated in the Chengdu part only. The fair will gather 1,500 participants of companies, state/regional governments, clusters, business associations, EU-China Cooperation experts, universities, R&D institutions from west and north China, the European Commission, EEN partners, and European countries who are seeking potential collaboration and partnerships with their counterparts.

Activities of the event

The EU-China Business and Technology Cooperation Fair included high-level presentations and discussions, a set of networking activities, and a business-to-business fair.

This event was a leverage for the UCIP project to promote the technology and spin-off cases of Vrije Universiteit Brussel. An online matchmaking platform allowed us to create a set of meetings, where counterparties for the VUB cases were found. These meetings, in a "speed-dating" style, were arranged with a.o. IKcare Medical Electrical Equipment Co., Ronghui Dating Equity Investment Fund Management Co., Chengdu Yijiashidai Robotics, Evershine Technology Co., Eyedsion, and Zhishu Science and Technology Co. It allowed to have introductory discussion on possible technology transfer collaboration.

Results of the event

The event allowed us to assemble a wide range of contacts, which are now being followed up by the VUB cases individually.

Vrije Universiteit Brussel was invited to the main stage as a special guest because of a pending Memorandum of Understanding between EUPIC and VUB. The VUB received free incubation space for a set period of time in the EUPIC's new international building on technology transfer.
